Do not wash in hot water, as excessive heat can damage the glass jar. It is recommended to wash glass jars in warm water with the addition of something like potassium metabisulfite (an excellent disinfectant). They can be used for pickling cucumbers, making liqueurs, or storing sweets or dry goods (such as flour, cereals, sugar, pasta, or dried mushrooms). The jar can also be used for a "forest in a jar" project or for making decorative elements like glow balls. It also makes a convenient transport container—an airtight plastic lid is included. Do not pour boiling water into the jar.
